East the Right Foods for a Longer Life

Ageing is a natural process, but by eating the right foods, you can control the effect that it has on you body and mind. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that certain nutrients such as B-Vitamins, antioxidants and fiber all play a vital role in keeping the body healthy. If you would like to keep your body nice and trim, have supple skin, and have a mind that is alert, then start including the following three anti-aging foods in your diet.

Eat the Right Foods for a Longer Life

Wild Salmon
Omega-3's have been shown to improve appearance, lower triglyceride levels and even help to protect against heart attacks. Salmon is an incredible source of this. The essential fatty acids it contains help to keep you skin smooth and glowing, and your hair shiny. Whilst farmed salmon is nearly as good, wild salmon is more beneficial – It tastes better too!

It is not just about the Omega-3's though. Wild salmon is also a good source of protein, which helps to maintain and build muscle. It also provides astaxanthin, which is an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Research suggests that astaxanthin can aid your skin in lessening the effects of sun damage such as sagging and wrinkles. Wild salmon is a true, anti-aging super food!

Broccoli
Broccoli is the perfect accompaniment to wild salmon. It is stuffed full of vitamins and anti-aging nutrients that all help to combat the effects of passing years. The vitamins include B-Vitamin Folate which helps the brains synapses, and K1 which helps to increase the density of bone, and thus reduces the risks of fractures. With fiber and potassium to clean artery's and be more heart healthy, broccoli is a true super-food.

Nuts and Seeds
Nuts and seeds have always been part of our diet throughout history, and yet many people ignore them nowadays. They can be a great snack that helps provide protein in order to maintain and build muscle, provides a source of mono-unsaturated fats, and contains energizing B-Vitamins.

Some of the best varieties of nuts and seeds for their ant-aging properties are Almonds, Walnuts, Flaxseeds and Pumpkin seeds. Mix them up to ensure a range of nutrients are being taken on board such as calcium, omega-3's, fiber and zinc. Only eat a handful or two a day though in order to keep an eye on the calories.

Remember, supplements have their place, but a balanced diet is one of the key things in keeping your body healthy.
